This is a nonsensical word used by some adults in order to confuse each other and make the other person feel inferior or isolated.
'Sleep' does not, in fact, describe any real biological function that occurs in the human species.
Those who use the noun 'sleep' or the adjective sleeping suggest this describes an absence of consciousness involving hallucinations and delusions. People who advocate the existence of 'sleep' are no more than conspiracy theorists trying to perpetuate the norm that becoming near-catatonic, hibernating, passing gas and hallucinating is a normal, healthy process that occurs in a 24 hour cycle for between 6-12 hours.
Possibly, the most popular sleep conspiracy theory suggests that ancient cave drawings and fossilised pillows are proof that beds are devices that evolved to meet 'sleeping' needs. This is clearly nonsense, as beds are, and always have been, a place to study, masterbate, f*ck, watch tv and facebook, not 'sleep'.
