For example: Alexandra finally figured out she's a lesbian, but she's in denial about it because she grew up with strict Mormon beliefs. She starts dating Phillip in hope that she'll eventually grow to love him and the homosexuality will go away. Later she accepts herself as a lesbian and breaks up with Phillip.
