Everyone else has been “deep learning” and has said how much better it is than “regular learning”, however later on you discover that nobody was doing regular learning properly either and were instead just using rusty nails...

self-educated person who relies on alternate sources for learning, for example online, mentors, self-directed research, "school of hard knocks"; person who believes that traditional educational institutions do not have a monopoly on education; person who relies on their own assessment of what is important to learn and sources their own education
