For some reason their fans adore them because of this.

Person A: Sonic Youth were part of the "American Underground" duh, they helped start alternative rock!

A band which releases creepy sounding songs with little to zero melody, they're a decent band, nonetheless.

Ever listened to Bull In The Heather by Sonic Youth? The fact the song has little melody makes you feel fucked up in the head.

Sonic Youth 

The ninth best band ever, after Radiohead, Modest Mouse, Björk, The Flaming Lips, Pink Floyd, Beck, The Pixies, and The Smashing Pumpkins. Not as influential as The Pixies, but more talented, just not as fun to listen to.

Sonic Youth is a very kickass band.
