A word derived from the region of Greece named Laconia, the capital city of which is Sparta. It means to speak in a concise way, as the Spartans often did.

Laconic

An adjective used to describe individuals who are brief in speech and communication; some one who is quiet and answers questions and talks in short answers and sentences.

Laconic individuals get straight to the point, where in some instances people may misconstrue it as rudeness or creepiness.
Person: Have we met?
Laconic person: No.
Person: But you know me.
Laconic Person: I know of you. We haven't met.
Person: So how exactly do you know me?
Laconic Person: I see you.
Person: Where? In public or in advertisements?
Laconic Person: Yes.
