Ironic Facial Hair

Ironic Facial Hair is novelty facial hair grown with the intention of being "ironic"... Although the results are usually about as ironic as that song by Alanis Morisette. It is generally considered a hipster term.
Ironic Facial Hair can either be subjective toward the bearer (for instance a Jew with a toothbrush moustache) or more commonly achieved by growing a non-conformist style of facial hair that is rarely seen in modern society (for instance, the salvador dali moustache or mutton chops) the latter making this applicable to the hipster community.

"I'm so non-conformist I'm going to grow some Ironic Facial Hair. I can't decide between 'The Super Mario' or 'The Jack Sparrow'"

Mel Gibson's sinister-looking imperial "evil villain" beard at the 59th Annual ACE Eddie Awards in 2009 was incredibly ironic.

ironicool

The level of coolness achieved by embracing an object or attitude that is deemed uncool or outdated by the masses. Striking the ironicool balance is a delicate proposition. Going overboard is quite common and frequently attempts at ironicool lead to failure when they appear to be forced or exhibit over-effort.

Not to be confused with hipsterism.

Ironic consciousness

Irony at the level of consciousness. Self-actualized consciousness counterposed to its own existence. Consciousness as a self-actualized linearization of time that originates from cyclical time origins. Inability of consciousness to consciously traverse linear time due to the very nature of its existence.

Ironic consciousness means we cannot travel backwards in time.

post-ironic

adjective: When one's ironic appreciation of something becomes genuine, usually due to either prolonged exposure or the enjoyment derived from how amusingly terrible it is.

At first, I thought Pitchfork's inclusion of Kelly Clarkson's "Since U Been Gone" at #21 on their top 500 tracks of the 2000s list was just hipster irony... But now real hipsters post-ironically recognise it for the great song it is, go figure.

Alanis Ironic

A form of irony that, at a cursory glance, seems to completely miss the definition of irony. Upon further consideration, it occurs to people later that the only thing ironic about it is that there is nothing ironic about it. This, in turn, sets up a conundrum wherein critics are no longer sure whether the original author is either a genius or fucking stupid. Named for Alanis Morisette's song Ironic.

The book was Alanis ironic in that the "ironic" stories the author told were so far off the mark that people had to wonder, given his otherwise sound literary prowess, whether he intentionally used "cosmic irony" to both increase the colloquial understanding of the misuse of ironic and define it in a subtle way, or if he really just doesn't understand irony.
