Gloom - Noun (Computer Gaming)

Gloom is a teambased, non-CTF modification to the Quake2 game engine. It pits Aliens vs. Humans in the all too familiar battle for racial superiority. Only a few servers still exist but the community is tightly knit and the people who still play it are mostly seasoned veterans with high levels of skill.

The objective is to destroy the opposite team's "spawns", rendering them unable to continue the game. Some Gloom maps have different objectives to spice things up, such as preventing the other team from escaping on a shuttle or escape pod.

dark world that exists between this one and the shadows. Only able to be accessed by nonhumans known as Others. First inroduced by author Sergei Lukyanenko in his book "Night Watch" part of a tetrology. also made into a movie "Night Watch (Nochnoy Dozor).

Noun - In the context of Philadelphia/Delco this colloquialism is used to designate the time of day b/w 4-6am (depending on time of year) before the sun comes out fully. The time, sight and experience is known as the Gloom. Generally witnessed due to late night drinking

Verb - to be awake at this time of day usually in a drinking context. To gloom or gloom it is synonymous with binge drinking until ungodly hours
