The clan was formed when two users named "Yokergeist" and "Pokergeist" started posting threads after another user named "Jokergeist" was temporarily banned. As the three of them grew in popularity, more people began changing their account names to end in "geist". After a few months, around fifty or so people had joined The Geist Clan. The clan would troll, ban raid, and ultimately try to take over the website. In mid 2014, the moderators on Comic Vine moderators broke up a ban raid by the Geists, and banned them all. Some of the higher ranked members moved to various websites, such as IGN and YouTube. The Geist Clan is currently active on the app iFunny, with Yokergeist forming an alliance with another clan called "PUG Army".
