A thrusting, ambitious type motivated solely by the pursuit of money.
The phrase was popularised greatly in the UK by the song (1973) of the same name by the rock band, Budgie.

He might be a multi-millionaire but there's no way you're going to persuade that breadfan to donate that houseto be your orphanage.

Yorkshire equivalent to bread rolls.
Often people outside Yorkshire will be confused if a Yorkshireman asks for a breadcake, because they don't know anything about Yorkshire bakeries.
