arotagonist

A mix between a protagonist and an antagonist in writing or a story. An arotagonist can appear evil in a plot but really be good or appear good but really be evil. The arotagonist neither assists nor hinders the main characters progression or both assists and hinders the progression of the main character.

Snape was the perfect arotagonist in Harry Potter.

Most people can never guess the true intentions of an arotagonist.
