A person who is well known by many people, and pretty popular. They might have a few friends, but they don’t have any close friends, best friends, or friend group. All their ‘friends’ have their own best friends and friend groups, so the popular loner is usually alone. They usually don’t have anyone to talk to, but sometimes they do. People always assume they have best friends and are in a friend group though, so they want to keep that reputation

Popular Loner 

A student who everyone knows and wants to hang out with but never seems to have time for others. Rather than making plans with his "friends" afterschool he chooses to go home and play video games instead.
