American Civil Liberties Union

a diverse organization of American Patriots better known as simply the aclu that works to protect the basic freedoms gauranteed by the U.S. Constitution
The American Civil Liberties Union believes in:

Free speech,Free press; this applies to everyone even those with radical or unpopular beliefs, defending a persons right to speak is not the same as an endorsement of that speech

Freedom of religion/Seperation of Church and State; There can be no freedom of religion without a seperation of church and state if government favors one particular religion it infringes on the those who believe in other faiths. The religious right claims inaccurately that not allowing government to force people to practice Christianity is somehow being anti-Christian which of course is ridiculous, many Christians are ACLU members

Protections against unwarranted search and seizure (privacy) protected by the fourth amendment the ACLU opposed the Patriot Act and other abuses by the Bush Administration

Opposition to "Cruel" and "Unusual" punishment which is prohibited by the eighth amendment, this includes the death penalty

The ninth amendment states that our rights are not limited to those specifically mentioned in the Constitution, basically America is a free society and the government needs to show a compelling state interest before criminalizing any private personal behavior

The fourteenth amendment gaurantees equal protection under the law, this includes gays and people of all races and religions

Operation Iraqi Liberation

What the US government was calling the Iraq War before they realized the title was more appropriate than it should have been (Operation Iraqi Liberation – O.I.L.). This is not an urban legend made up by leftists; check the official whitehouse press release:

Operation Iraqi Liberation liberated something, but it wasn't Iraqis (it was O.I.L.).

West Georgia Liberation Front

West Georgia Liberation Front (WGLF) was a debate team from West Georgia who referred to themselves as the West Georgia Liberation Front. Their approach was essentially to mock conventions of debate while putting forth the notion that we can't really know anything with certainty, so attempts to discuss the world as something which can be known are ultimately doomed to fail.
Hey Cole, I found this really kick ass aff from the West Georgia Liberation Front. Let's run this!

classical liberalism

a political philosophy perpetuating free-market economics, minimalist government, strong private property rights, non-interventionism, government disinvolvement in social issues, separation of church and state, and open borders. the word "liberal" was originally associated with these beliefs, but liberals eventually started promoting large government, closed markets, redistribution of wealth, and high government involvement in social issues. today, liberal is associated with the latter qualities. the newer liberals are sometimes identified as neo-liberals. in modern day, a classical liberal tends to self-identify as a libertarian, and the term classical liberal is used much less than it was 100-200 years ago. some libertarian causes, like the Mises institute, still commonly use the term.
harry, who perpetuates classical liberalism, votes either republican or libertarian.
