This guy named Burnett that I used to work with defines the concept of laid back.
As a matter of fact, he pretty much defines all the following words as well...
congenial, cool, easygoing, frank, low-pressure, mellow, natural, open, relaxed, unceremonious, unconstrained, urbane, without ceremony

A very cool guy to work with.

An individual personality whom doesn't feel like he or she needs to take charge, can let things slide, go with the flow in a sense.

Bob: Dude, why are you not bothered by what that broad did to you?
Dave: I'm laid back, man. No point in taking it personal.

Laid back

A descriptive word that refers to a person who is slow to stress about things, prefers to take things at a slow pace and take things in. Can have a positive or negative connotation depending on who you are talking to. You'll find those more high-strung have a significantly more negative understanding of 'laid-back' than most. I.e. notice some of the other UD definitions.

Laid back kind of guy 

A term used to describe unoriginal North American guys on internet dating web sites.

These guys are probably very nice people, but they don't bring much to the table, as the most interesting way they describe themselves is:

"I'm a laid back kind of guy who likes music, movies, and hanging out with friends."

A laid back kind of guy usually knows the fundamentals of acoustic guitar, loves Dave Matthews Band, and went backpacking in Europe to have sex.

He's cute, but he looks like a laid back kind of guy. He'll probably play Wonderwall on his acoustic to impress me.
