Jirai Kei

Share definition
Jirai Kei (地雷系), meaning "landmine-type", is a Japanese slang term used in a derogatory manner to label someone as "ticking time bomb". Just like with a real landmine, they are not recognisable as such until making a wrong step that's triggering an explosion.

Below, the main characteristics of a landmine-type:
- emotional instability
- attention seeker
- easily triggered
- manipulative
- obsessive

Since 2020, the term has also become the name of a stereotype and character trope along the lines of "yandere", which attributes the previously mentioned traits to girls who wear dark alternative fashion styles.
"There are many girls who might look Jirai Kei at first glance, but in truth that's just stereotyping them as a real landmine isn't visible."

visual kei

Brand of Japanese rock music where band members (mostly men) wear elaborate make up and stage costumes, much of the time crossdressing. The "kei" is japanese for style of type, meaning "visual style music" The music ranges from 80's-esque goth rock, to heavy metal to punk and usually some combo of the 3. Most bands are indies (independant or on indies labels) but a few make it to major labels such as Malice Mizer, Raphael, and Dir En Grey. Also seen written "VK" or sometimes incorrectly lumped in with the catch all word "Jrock", meaning all japanese rock music.
D'istray is a visual kei band.
Cure Records and Marder Suitcase are indies VK labels.

Soft visual kei is a vaguely defined sub-genre of visual kei (a type of Japanese music). Instead of elaborate costumes, the bands wear clothing "off the rack" and have simple, natural makeup. It is what people tend to think of when they think of mainstream or major visual kei, but it is very different from typical visual kei. The most important aspect of the music is the melody. The style pretty much died around the year 2000, when visual went back to having an independent focus. Sometimes shortened to "Sofubi."

Bands include Siam Shade, Glay, Sophia, Janne Da Arc. Contrasts with kote kei.
Calling "soft visual kei" bands a form of "visual kei" seems to be a marketing move more than anything; they don't have the same dark focus or elaborate costumes of other bands.

akiba kei

Akiba-kei or Akiba-chan is a Japanese slang term similar in meaning to otaku.

Akiba-kei literally means "Akihabara style," referring to a district in Tokyo filled with stores selling electronics, manga, anime merchandise, and other products designed to appeal to the otaku subculture.

Akiba-kei particularly refers to men in their 20's and 30's who live in or around Tokyo and spend their leisure time in Akihabara. Their interests are particularly focused upon idols, erotic PC games, model figurines and manga. However, occasionally this also refers to young people (often including women) who look like a geek (otaku), even if he or she is not actually one or has never been to either Akihabara or any other 'geek-chic' place. More or less, now Akiba-kei is used as a synonym of 'creepy people'.

It may be used self-mockingly by Akiba-kei themselves or their friends, neutrally by Akiba-kei amongst themselves, or negatively similar to the English term geek; although in wider Japanese culture the term "otaku" is in more common use, and has the generally negative connotation.

The term was popularized in mainstream Japanese culture as a result of the 2005 movie, and subsequent television series, Densha-otoko.

It is a cult where Kei (from Classroom of the Elite) is being worshipped.
Inside the cult there are a lot of dangerous devout followers that will destroy you if you talk shit about their Goddess.
I would never join the Kei Cult as I don't want to be branded as a maniac.
