Slang for gun. Contrary to (apparently) popular belief, it is not a term created by modern rap stars, but has been in use since the prohibition era.
"scene kids ghetto stars come on grab your gats"
"that night at 82 the parking lot was stacked. grabbed my gat and got my hand stamped by matt."
THANK YOU HOLLYWOOD UNDEAD.<3

etymology: perhaps from 'gat' in "gatling gun," akin to Richard J. Gatling, American inventor.
A firearm.
A firearm.
