When you make plans with someone to do something but then after you made the plans you cancel them and do something else with a different person. Some people think ditching is when you invite someone somewhere and they can't come but it's not.

That's so rude Lindsey is ditching us for Emily! She is so obsessed with her!

Ding Dong Ditching

The act where you knock on someone's door, or ring their doorbell, and run away. This is mostly used on old people who either grab their gun and shoot at the kid, or chase them in their car. This, in my opinion, is fun as fuck if he or she starts chasing you. Most people do this at night to not be seen, but I like to sometimes go during day.

Probably the only thing you'll remember from high school, besides that time you snapped Mr. Wendell's ass with a towel.

Often, those who are ditching school will claim to be sick, or kill off a family member to claim the class-free days allotted by the school for just such an occasion.

When asked where a ditching student is, present students will often claim that he or she got hit by a bus and has passed away, so that they might claim a class-free day as well.

Those caught ditching are reprimanded, and consequently mocked and degraded by their peers.

Teacher: Is Sean ditching school?
Student: No, he got hit by a bus.
