When one cannot fall asleep due to the sheer excitement of what is to come the next day. A common case of children not being able to fall asleep on Christmas Eve for the excitement of seeing what toys they will unwrap the next morning.

Get the Christmas Eve Syndromemug. n. Oxymoronicly named period alluding to the daylight hours prior to Christmas Eve. Quite an acceptable coinage despite the objections of some opinionated pedants. An alternate etymology comes from the traditions of the Armenian Orthodox church which speak of the Bethlehem innkeeper's wife, Evangelina, who convinced her husband to allow Mary to give birth in their stable. A feast day in her honour was declared on the day preceding Christmas. Christmas Eve Day, a time for quiet contemplation and fasting, is still celebrated in Asia Minor and much of Central Alberta.

Get the Christmas Eve Evemug. The day before Christmas Eve. All "Eve" holidays are better than the actual holiday because the day does not have to live up to the expectation of the real holiday. People are also usually off work on "eve's" so it is like everyones Friday night!!!
