Cangster

Definition: A “Cangster” is someone who ardently tries to come off as a gangster, adopting the style, demeanor, and attitude associated with the lifestyle, yet falls short of the genuine article. This individual often overcompensates in their attempt to be seen as tough or streetwise, but to the discerning eye, they simply don’t embody the true characteristics of a gangster. While they may think of themselves as intimidating or commanding respect, others tend to view them as trying too hard, earning them the moniker “Cangster” — a gangster in effort, but not in essence.

Example Sentence: “Look at Mark, strutting around in brand-name urban gear and flashing signs, he’s such a cangster — everyone knows he’s from the suburbs and the most ‘street’ thing he’s done is jaywalk.”
