Achillean

Achillean (also known as Men Loving Men (MLM), Apollian and Chaeronean) refers to men or masculine-aligned person who is attracted to other men or men-aligned people. This attraction doesn't have to be exclusive, as the label is used in a way to unify all men who love other men such as gay (vincian) men, bisexual men, pansexual men, etc, promoting solidarity among men of all identities. Since achillean is an umbrella term, it is typically not used as an identity on it's own, however it can be if desired.

Song of Achilles

A book written by Madeline Miller that is written from the point of view of Patroclus, a close friend and lover of the famous Achilles. The book made many people sob their eyes out and educated them, since Miller did extensive historical research for the book. It's a very well-written book and is a favorite to millions.

Person 1: Hey, have you read Song of Achilles?
Person 2: No, I haven't. Is it good?
Person 1: Oh yeah it's great! It made me sob for a whole hour when I finished! So heart-wrenching!

A banned halucinogenic beverage made from oil extracted from achewood or wormwood and originates in the southern areas of the United States. Drinking achewater causes euphoria, but is often followed by persistent, long lasting depression or melancholy. Achewood oil is considered a powerful depressant and is capable of causing permanent brain damage.

According to Chris Onstad, creator of the online comic strip "Achewood" (www.achewood.com), achewater has allegedly inspired a fair number of Southern folk tales and songs, including "Sullivan's Bear and Dried Bird" and "I'm Following a Little Round Lord."

After several bottles of achewater, Jim was feeling just a tad bit more than mildly euphoric and proceeded to pantomime sex acts with a nearby light fixture. The next day, he shot himself in the mouth.

Chinua Achebe

Chinua Achebe (1930-2013) was an author who set out to write the story of his Nigerian people that had been left out by Europeans who had colonized his country. He is most famous for writing the fiction book "Things Fall Apart". In "Things Fall Apart", rather than sugarcoating, Achebe illustrates the flaws and strengths of both Igbo (native Nigerian) culture/religion, as well as the flaws and strengths of the colonial British, bringing the religion of Christianity. Through this balanced, realistic approach, Achebe uses fiction as a way to express the truth and reality of Nigeria in the 19th century and British colonialism. "Things Fall Apart" became so popular internationally because people from so many different places could connect with their country being colonized, causing a part of the book to resonate with them. On top of "Things Fall Apart", Achebe wrote many other nonfiction and fiction works as well as poetry, and his beautiful writing is admired in many school classrooms to this day.

Chinua Achebe is most famous for his book "Things Fall Apart", published in 1958.
