The person invited to parties who's only purpose is to keep the group from getting into too much trouble. They usually don't get intoxicated as it would impare their parental judgement.

John: "Hey, I'm throwing a party this weekend. Should I invite Rob?"

Susan: "Definitely. We need a party dad".

Trap Party

A Trap Party is an MMO term that refers to a party advertised for clearing a raid or dungeon, but often hides the fact there are low skill level players involved. It is often used as an expression of frustration or disgust with a party's performance.

The term is often seen in online RPGS such as World of Warcraft (WOW), Final Fantasy XIV (FFXIV), and Guild Wars 2 (GW2).

A person who is not physically at a party but is socializing with people there via skype while it is going on thus giving the impresion that he/she is there.
