schadenessen

Similar to schadenfreude (shameful joy or pleasure at another's misfortune - German), schadenessen is shameful eating, or eating in an embarrassing way best kept hidden from view. Also can mean guilty eating.

Eating a messy sandwich out of public view to hide embarrassment is schadenessen, or eating take away (take-out) food in a restaurant car park (parking lot) is schadenessen.

I'm off to commit some schadenessen in the vestibule...

When at social event; drinking to the point of vomiting and or passing out in the presence of invited guests.

Last night at the dinner john pulled a schaaf. He ended up puking all over the bathroom, then came and passed out at the dinner table. We had to excuse ourselves and leave before the meal was served.
