Derived from a group of male students identified by their rodent tendancies in Preston (UK) circa 2003-4 who travelled round the town in a unit.
Psyching themselves up for a good night of rat behaviour, members would often call out "Rat Unit", and use the term as a defence for any rat behaviour that is carried out.
