A Smurfzone in CS:GO are ranks that got fucked up by smurfs. Here's how it happens. A smurf makes a new account or deranks on purpose and doesn't let actual silvers win. Therefore, silver's have to become better than the smurfs to rankup, but then they become part of the smurfzone cycle. They take the smurf's place. So for short, smurfzone is a range of ranks (usually from silver 1 to silver 4) that are more difficult to play on than on the higher ranks, such as gold nova.
