(from Charles Dickens' classic book "A Tale Of Two Cities") Identifies the accusing party who would have been testifying against Madame DeFarge if said violent lady --- rather than being killed with her own smuggled pistol --- had been taken into custody and tried in a court of law.

If Madame DeFarge had not been killed with her own pistol, she would likely have been challenged in court for attempted murder, and the no-nonsense governess and friend of Lucie Manette would likely have served as the Prossecution after said Madame's famous armed confrontation with her.

Refers to how a certain group of people have been pushing buttons or ironing clothes for a long time.

They say dat da floor-number pushbuttons in public elevators are typically even more septic than da surfaces of public toilet-seats, so you may not wanna follow da pressedent of just mindlessly jabbing said back-lighted discs wif your bare fingertips --- use your elbow instead. Da irrational and paranoid OCD-sufferer Howard Hughes would be nodding his head here... too bad dat those little pump-bottles of hand-sanitizer dat we see everywhere today weren't so abundantly-available back then, or da germophobic billionaire might not have been in such a microbe-fearing tizzy all da time.
