It is associated with basic/rough figures traditionally done on the back of a beer coaster at a pub while drinking.
An example might be mates working out the cost of a fishing trip, so "Fuel will be about $100, bait about $50, accom about $200 and good about $200". So rough/approximate figures.

According to my beer coaster maths, it would be about $500. But if you want a more accurate number I'd obviously have to look it up, speak to the suppliers etc.

When you check the year of production against how many seasons are on Netflix for a particular show you are loving, in hopes the series may still be ongoing.
I did the Netflix math, and realized (insert favorite show) was over after the season I'm binge watching now.

Liver math is the calculation(s) you make throughout the night to help determine if you are sober enough to drive home.
Alcohol is processed by the body at a determined rate (generally one beer/shot/wine glass an hour), and you can save yourself a night in the drunk tank and some legal fees by adhering to liver math.
Liver math or cab fare. Either is a wise choice. Disregard at your own peril.

Friend #1: "My ex just showed up here with her new bf. I'm leaving as soon as the liver math allows it."
Friend #2: "No way! You're my ride! Let's get fucked up and take a cab when the bar closes. I'll drive you to your car tomorrow."
Friend #1: "Good call. Screw that bitch, anyway."
