"Our true friends are those who are with us when the good things happen. They cheer us on and are pleased by our triumphs. False friends only appear at difficult times, with their sad, supportive faces, when, in fact, our suffering is serving to console them for their miserable lives.”
There are very few people who are true friends.

a vague, non-threatening, public-domain excuse given to a concerned parent when they try and ask you who you are going to go out or hang out with. Usually used in place of:
(in no particular order)
1. I'm going out with alot of people and I am too lazy to prattle off all of their names.
2. I am going to meet new people who I barely know
3. It's non of your business
4. These are people of ill-gotten-repute and I don't want you to know that I am hanging out with them.
also sinonomys with "just some friends", or "a few friends", etc.

Parent: so who are you going out with to the mall?
Me: oh, just some friends...
Parent: ok, that sounds good, have fun

A forever friend. A friend who has grown up with you and is still your friend even in the adult years. Your best friend.
My best friend that I grew up with and I are still best friends and we are grown. We are lifelong friends because we have known each other and been friends our entire lives.

it's when you don't want a serious relationship but you want him / her as your toy to fuck around with.It also can be when she / him are already in a realtionship but you like that person so he/she agrees to be your friend with benefit.

This is the worst position someone can be in, if they have feelings for someone. When a person develops romantic feelings for someone, but the other person only sees the relationship as just being friends. Because the two are around each other a lot, the one in love will harbor his/her feelings for the others. Only to become completely comsumed by this person. This leads to the one in love to complain to all his/her friends about the situation, and to become "pussy whipped" by they other.
Tom meets Amy, and falls in love. But Amy does not hold the same feelings. Therefore the two become friends, and thats it. Now Tom, being around Amy and just friends, harbors his romantic feelings for her. He then will become "pussy whipped" by her, and complain to all his friends about his feelings for her. At this point Tom should realize he is in the Friend Zone and move on.

Large groups of individuals that hang out together on weekday (Workday) nights at late hours. They can either be a group of friends in a strange place on weekday evenings or several driving together in a planned pattern maybe themselves seem "Professional"
Person 1 - "Hey look at all those people, why are they out here on a wednesday night?"
Person 2 - "They are professional friends, that's why!"
Person 2 - "They are professional friends, that's why!"
