Japanese animation or cartoons are called anime.

Note: Anime and Cartoons are NOT the same, and mixing them up in presence of an Otaku will lead to serious bodily damage.

Anime is highly addictive, and causes major brain damage to young and old. Too much anime will lead to lack of a normal life, and blurred vision.

Popular anime: Naruto, Bleach, Dragonball Z etc.

A japanise form of animation that americans adopted and fucked up with crappy dubbing edited diolouges and cut out scenes. Usaually consists of peaple with proportionatly large eyes and exotic hair colors and styles. Ranges from kid stuff to adult content with nudity called hentai.
Really if your into anime its better to watch it on youtube or some other vidio site to watch it in a raw form with subtitles.

noun: a japanese cartooning system that is characterized by very little curviture, exotic colors, oddly shaped eyes that are usually large and disporportional to the shape of the body. Also, many mangas deal with subject matter that aren't found in most other Western-world cartoons.

Many people who do not fully understand or grasp the full concept of anime will oftentimes confuse it with manga. Mangas are the books that eventually turn into anime, and anime are the TV shows that result from a popular manga.

Also, many may stereotype all anime serials as large quantities of porn, although an overwhelming amount of anime have nothing perverted about them. Perverted animes with large amounts of sexual content are called Hentai.

Death Note is my favorite US anime.

basically anime is just japanese cartoons that Americans say is "trash" when anime has several genres and different themes-just like cartoons. The distinctive features that anime actually have are realistic animation, a storyline-unlike most cartoons where it is just random episodes, and Japanese customs in the shows. Overall Anime is different from cartoons but when people say it is "trash" they usually call it trash for the wrong reasons.

Dude1:Hey dude do you watch anime?
Dude2:What? No, anime is trash it makes no sense.
Dude1:There are different genres so what you said makes no sense.
Dude2:It is just trash, I have nothing more to say
Dude1:can you at least tell me why it is trash?
