Most likely named Ryan. Someone who is always chirping, drinks out of mason jars, his whole identity is based around skating or surfing because it is "So rad dude. The man can't define me."

A conversational expression usually used to show how hip the speaker is compared to the listener. Should be used in a self-effacing manner. In conjunction the words should sound like 'hipster than you are.'

Someone who is in the state of being "basic", or is classified as such, yet longs to be a "hipster." Like Pinocchio longed to be a real boy, these Pinocchio-Hipsters long to be real hipsters. Yet no matter how hard they try, how hard they grunge, or how tight their jeans are... they are doomed to be "basic," forever.
Cate longed to become hipster, but she was basic to the core. Like a giraffe in a duck costume, this Pinocchio Hipster wasn't fooling anyone.

The enemy of the emo. The two groups generally hate each other. Emo people will generally try to drown hipsters in the mainstream, while hipsters will put the emos in a circle room so they have no corner to cry in.
"Ugh. It's a hipster." Says the emo girl.
"I listened to that band before I was cool." Replies the hipster girl.

that hipster is so afraid to just live that they reject everything and act like they're better for it

A hipster is someone that always has something negative to say about the things you like, but will never tell you what they like.
A hipster never takes any risks, so as to avoid any potentially embarrassing or awkward moments. And yet they're the first ones to critique your actions, and tell you why you're wrong, what you should have done, followed by a story about how they did it so much better blah blah..
