Predominantly English slang term for a Scotsman, similar to Irishmen being "Paddy" and Welshmen "Taffy" or "Taff". A nickname given to the Scotsman in a group of friends Mainly used as lighthearted, inoffensive ribbing but considered offensive by some depending on context.

Usually plays football or some other sport that honestly will not help them in the long run.

Real athletes strive as hard as they can to reach a certain goal they strive at IE: Swimming, Running, playing Basketball, Boxing.

Many MANY Jocks cannot do these sports right, and will not anytime in the future.

Jocks waste their time on such trivial things to find out that it wont matter in the future.

Their lack of IQ and talent is replaced by good social skills, that wont matter in the long run either.

Jocks own ricers and (Despite popular belief,) spend most of their time on the internet.

To give a straightforward definition free of opinion, a jock is a stereotype found in many American High schools and colleges about male athletes. Female athletes are sometimes referred to as jocks, but this is a male-based stereotype. Almost always football or basketball players, and sometimes soccer or hockey players, jocks are stereotyped as those athletes who are unintelligent, arrogant, and unkind, but who are nevertheless popular within their own clique and are of a high social status in school, attracting many girls and envied by dissimilar stereotypes. While they consist of many negative traits, the clear reason they remain of a high status is due to the idolization and admiration of athletes in American culture. The opposite stereotype include nerds and emos, and similar stereotypes are preps and cheerleaders.

Usually the biggest asshole(s) in your school. Most of the teachers adore them. They tend to not get into trouble for something that if you did, you'd be raped inside out. Jocks usually yell, make noise, hot ditsy girls usually go for them, cut in line and do just about everything else thats totally uncalled for. Jocks also push you around, but then their day comes when they played football and wrestled all their high school days, and I step out side, and my lawn is freshly mowed, and the same jock who was an asshole then, and still is, is putting his lawn mower back on his truck and telling me "Good Morning Sir".

Principal: "Your not a jock!!!! YOU ARE NOTHING!!!!"

Student: "Yes sir (sadly)...i'll only go to Yale and become very wealthy and have a great life."

Principal: "YOUR GOD DAMN RIGHT!!!! .......Now....I will molest you."
