Word Gating 

The use of technical terms or over-complicated language as a tool to; Make yourself seem smarter than you actually are or to gate certain individuals from understanding your work who would otherwise understand,

"I want to enjoy reading this but I'm just being word gated. And I just don't understand what is being said."

"I want to get into this industry but the sheer amount of word gating makes it difficult."

Tail-gay-ting

When a person’s normal walk pace is so fast, usually a gay male, that they get stuck behind a slower walker who refuses to move out of their way.

I was trying to walk down the sidewalk while going for coffee but got stuck tail-gay-ting an elderly woman who wouldn’t step out of the way.

Grief Gating 

The act of selectively mourning the death of someone based on their political or ideological alignment, while ignoring or rationalizing the deaths of those outside one’s tribe. A form of emotional compartmentalization that reveals unconscious bias in expressions of empathy.

When the invited speaker was killed, the campus held vigils and posted tributes. But when a student protester died last year, barely anyone mentioned it. That’s grief gating—mourning filtered through ideological lenses.
