Autism, more correctly referred to in the DSM 5 as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), is a developmental disorder characterized by many different symptoms, hence why it is called a spectrum. Many
autistic people are high functioning, and
don't obsess over trains. Some of the most common symptoms include:
- Lack of social awareness
- Sensory/overstimulation
- Hyperfixation
- Trouble making or keeping eye contact
- Unusual tone when speaking
