Dark Gardening

In reference used occasionally by night shift workers. Dark gardening refers to the first 4 hours of a shift where you are preparing, pruning, or switching appropriate staff members into positions to prepare for a smooth shift. This is a vital act usually performed by the “leader”/ “charge” of the evening shift, necessary to preform for a pleasant/ smooth shift.
This schedule needs some dark gardening, or it’s going to be rough one.

grey gardening

When you spend at least 24 hours in the same clothing, often unshowered, not leaving your home or the home of your closest friend. Activities include doom scrolling, watching trashy movies, drinking tea. Done in pairs.

Herman Gardens Housing Projects

Lemonyne Gardens / Cardboard City

A historic housing project in Inkster, MI, originally built in the 1940s to provide affordable homes for Black families migrating to Detroit’s defense industries during WWII. Known as “Cardboard City” after its later decline, the project became a tight-knit community hub, shaping Inkster’s African American culture. While now closed, its legacy persists through local history and preservation efforts.
