[grunge]

a genre of music that's not just Nirvana and Pearl Jam. Mainly consists of dirty guitar chords with lower tuning and lots of distortion. The grunge "look" consists of ripped jeans, flannel shirts and a I-don't-care attitude. The so called "godfather" of grunge, Kurt Cobain hated the word to describe the music. Nirvana was the first to popularize grunge (unintentionally), but they are not the only grunge band, Alice in Chains and Soungarden are other examples. If you want to act grunge, you have to be chilled out and not really care, respect women and others and hate jocks. Obscure indie bands are good too.

Grunge isn't dead, it's just taking a lazy afternoon nap.

Post-Grunge

A genre of music that basically describes any music inspired by grunge bands but isn't grunge. Usually post-grunge guitar is less distorted and the music is a little more pop inspired. This music has unfortunately dominated modern rock radio since about 1995.

Seether, Staind, Shinedown, Puddle of Mudd, Nickelback, 3 Doors Down, Three Days Grace, Matchbox 20, Candlebox, Foo Fighters, Audioslave, and Creed.

Stone Temple Pilots had a grunge sound on Core however, their later albums were post-grunge.

grunger

Someone who enjoy's grunge music Mudhoney, Dinosaur Jr, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains etc Most dress like said bands. A stereotypical grunger would have greasy long hair, wear random cheap scruffy tees or band tees, ripped jeans or ripped cut-offs, converse chuck taylors, converse one stars or some cheap training shoes. Grungers are not people who have lip piercings, listen to Sum41 and Avril Lavigne and skate. Some famous grungers Kurt Cobain, Layne Staley, (young)Daniel Johns etc.

Jay - "Yo, check outthat kid over there with the greasy hair and scruffy clothes."
Kevin - "What a grunger"
Grunger - "I wanna be Kurt Cobain, PSYCHE!"
Ps; if you think that last part was serious go look up the word psyche.
