democratic dictatorship

A form of government where the candidate is elected by popular vote but rarely or never actually enacts any policies that reflect the actual wishes of the constituency. The elected representative can either use subtle diplomacy to deflect criticsm, arrange for various forms of distraction to divert public attention, or be brazen in publicly declaring that policy will be different to popular opinion. Coined by Tim Francis in 2005.
The United States Federal Goverment's track record in regards to foreign policy and engaging military conflict could lead one to the conclusion that it has evolved into a democratic dictatorship. The same could be said for both the Federal Australian and UK governments to some extent, particularly in relation to Iraq and the Kyoto Agreement.

democrat

1. One belonging to the United States Democratic Party

2. Tend to believe that government should come to the aid the most disadvantaged in society (see Unemployment Insurance, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security). We don't bring it up much, but it's what Jesus taught.

3. Belive in the separation of church and state, on the off-chance that not everyone in America is a Southern Baptist.

4. Doesn't believe that industries have the unfettered right to dump carcinogens into our water supplies. Also believe in protecting public health and worker safety.

5. Believe in strengthening public education, rather than gutting it with vouchers.

6. Belive in civil liberties and equal rights for all people, regardless of gender, race, or sexual orientation; a Democratic President pushed through the Civil Rights Act even though it meant losing half of his party. That half, comprising mostly of racist whites, now overwhelmingly votes Republican.

7. Most have actually read the 9th amendment. Can also spell "amendment."

8. Represent broadest spectrum of the American public: women, blacks, Latinos, gays, Jews, seculars, immigrants, union workers, and yes, also straight middle-class white male Protestants like me.
If they were alive today, Abraham Lincoln and Teddy Roosevelt would be Democrats.

Despite a wealth of good ideas, Democrats have allowed themselves to be intimdated by semi-literate meatheads called Republicans

Democrat

A person aligned to a political party primarily concerned with liberal causes such as the enviroment, education, a de-emphasis on state's rights, strict construction, healthcare, 1st amendment rights and separation of church and state. In short, democrats are paragons of truth, virtue, and logic. The US would be a better place with more Democrats around.
Once we get a Democrat in the Oval Office, the country will get back on track.

Democrats

a political party who fights for civil rights. They also support the poor with welfare programs to make the middle class stronger.in order to create wellfare programs taxes must be raised to fund them. Now in my opion if the rich get taxed heavly and big buisnesses do to,it creates more small buisnesses and when theres more small buisnesses theres more conflict now if this happens the country will grow as a whole.many philosphers and great thinkers support the Democrat Theory.

Democratic Republic of Congo

The most messed up country modern civilization has ever seen. More people have died in this country in war than any other war since World War 2. If you travel there, expect to see chopped off arms and dead babies lying around everywhere.

Democrat

The political party opposite the Republican party. Their beliefs are that everyone should live on welfare, and no one should be too rich. That it's OK to kill innocent unborn children, but killing serial killers is bad. And that Socialism is OK, as long as you call it "change." Their mascot is a donkey, and it suits them.

Democrats

political party who beileves in raiseing taxes on the rich to help fund welfare programs ment to help the poor and keep the middle class strong.just like Aristole,Thomas Jefferson,Karl Marx,John manard Keynes, and other smart people the believe that a strong middle class makes a strong country. What Democrats are most famous for though is that they worship the human spirit and believe that everyone is equal and fight for civil rights.Even though the Democrats philosphy is better then the Republicans they often loose elections since they arent funded by big buisness or rich people as much. When a Democrat does become president though it has always been a surplus and a step forward in civil rights except jimy carter. The Ideal Democrat these days resembles an F.D.R or a more moderet democrat former president bill clinton.
a school gets funded in a poor neighberhood makeing it good enough to be teaching those students who want to go to college things that they need to learn to go to college. If that school is not funded those people remain in that poor comunity.THINK OF IT HAVE YOU EVER SEEN A GOOD PUBLIC SCHOOL THAT DOESENT GET ALOT OF GOVERMENT FUNDS DO WELL,AND DOES A BAD PUBLIC SCHOOL EVER HAVE A HIGH STUDENT SUCCESS RATE AFTER THE STUDENT HAS LEFT? the answer to that is no just look at texas, newyork, flordia, philly, ect who get poorly funded.
