An ill-fated multimedia console from the early 90's, developed by Philips. Known best for harboring some of the worst games ever made, many of which are so bad that they're actually fantastic. "Zelda: Wand of Gamelon" and "Link: Faces of Evil" are the games most people associate with the device.

Also Known by its full name "Compact Disc Interactive", CD-I was a short-lived video disc format introduced by Philips in 1993 that was designed to be played in CD-I players equipped with an optional Digital Video Cartridge. This expansion unit contained a 32 bit RISC processor and 1 MB of RAM to provide MPEG-1 decoding. It was the first digital video format on the consumer market.
It is best known for the infamous Hotel Mario game, or the Legend of Zelda games. These were the only Nintendo games that were ever licensed under any other company (Philips). It's lesser known use was for films. Only 20 or so movies made it onto CD-I.

An Apple engineer once said "They say, if you play a MicroSoft CD backwards, you can hear satan. But that's nothing. Play it forward and it installs Windows! :O"

When a musical artist or group displays the same level of vocal talent that they possess in their “CD(s)” during live performances. It can also be a way of saying that the specific artist or group holds real talent.
