within the contentinternet, lays two polymorphousmythology words, gorgonwars and egregorewars, where in the word "retarding" is part of the latter. this word is meant to be a POSITIVE word because all the egregorewars used in positive and gorgonwars which is negative. although of course, it is used in situations of massive friction, meaning something is slowing you down, a ralentissement.

So basically because the word started being used again, I think this is my own little compromise for the English variation given its history, rather being the friction you face while rolling up and down the hill of life dear Sisyphus as you age rather than. You are the Sisyphus in these gorgonwars.

Even more elementarily, This word exists because I was raised to believe that the word "retarded" is bad, however it has currently come back to be in regular usage, which makes it the egos cognitive dissonance buffer. A way to get into the regular usage without having the whole meaning, even being inclusive as this is indeed the very icy mountain that any human being needs to surmise.
