Scientific Principle

Scientific principles are general rules that are followed while doing science or rules that nature tends to follow.
Scientific Principle Examples
The Principle of Least Time a.k.a. Fermat's Principle which states that "light travels between two given points along the path of shortest time."

The principle of cause and effect which states that in order for something to happen there must be an underlying cause or is contingent.

Archimedes Principle: the buoyant force on an object is equal to the weight of the fluid displaced by that object

Examples where principles guide peoples actions would be: making sure all your hypotheses are testable and falsifiable (as opposed to unfalsifiable claims, see Russell's Teapot)

Principled Petty

When someone acts like they're doing something out of a principle or high-minded belief, but it's really just a rationalization for being petty. Usually the excuse will involve a concept like rights, laws, economics, or justice. The term is frequently used on Am I The Asshole Podcast.
"I don't tip. Why should consumers pay for a business' labor costs?"
"You sure you're not just a principled petty a-hole?"

"Mike said he didn't invite Jenny to his party because it's his right."
"He's just being principled petty - obviously this is about Jenny calling him out for stealing $20."

Jennings Principle

"When the cost of efficiency is greater than the cost of inefficiency"
when the cost and efficiency to build the wall in a factory and ship it, is actually more than the having the inefficient carpenter build it onsite is the Jennings Principle at work.

An object is immersed in a fluid is buoyed up by a force equal to the weight of the fluid displaced by the object.

A idiom thought up by a great philosopher which states, “Any object that of any size, shape, or threat level, has most likely been used by person, or people, to fuck, and feel pleasure from.”

principle

A main character in a piece of performing art. Examples include: In opera, any singer with a primary part; in ballet, a soloist or pair of soloists.
They are usually overpaid when compared to the exceeding amount of work put in by the chorus of an opera. Sure theyve got talent since they are singing in a freaking opera by themselves, but that is their job. Chorus members usually have other jobs outside of the opera.
There is also undue credit in many circumstances. A member of a chorus was once selected for a principle part. Suddenly she thought she was hot shit because she said 2 lines of libretto alone. She got a photo in the Playbill and a short bio. The rest of the choristers got their name in once and 100 dollar check at the end of the show.
"Hmm. Your B flat was a little TOO flat Id say, you should practice more."

"You know what Gloria, Ive waited a month to tell you this, but your shit doesnt stink any less than mine. You couldnt hit a B flat even if you were lipsynching you turkey-necked fatball. You need to be a fucking team player because the rest of the chorus applauds for all the principles at curtain call, even you. BITCH"
