predatory marketing

Disrespectful, inconsiderate, and at times aggressive and ultimately hurtful marketing to help manufacturers and retailers take as much advantage of consumers as possible.

Decades ago every item sold in a store had a price tag, now the retailers don't waste energy, thus money, sticking a price tag on each item or at least displaying a sign that informs consumers the price. That is just one example of predatory marketing. My definition of 'predatory marketing' is different than a more common one which states that it is any activity instigated—usually, by the larger manufacturer—to tangibly harm or eliminate smaller competitiors.

Wal*Marketing

1. Really bad fugly advertising using a lot of cliches, starbursts, etc.

2. Selling cheap shit merchandise to the masses.

3. TV commercials for car dealers with a lot of screaming and yelling with jack asses wearing big ugly cowboy hats or wearing costumes.

1. Steve just loves Wal*Marketing. Everything he asks me to design looks like an ad for Costco or Walmart.

2. Wal-Mart invented the concept of Wal*Marketing. Everything in that store is cheap shit made in China.

3. Cal Worthington is totally into Wal*Marketing with his stupid TV commercials.

Interactive Entertainment Marketing (I.E.M.)

Interacting with the consumer (where they live) through entertaining content that invites them to become part of the campaign and even share the branding message.

Today's consumers have so many advertising messages coming at them, most advertisers are having to come up with new ways to keep their attention.

Words like Social Media, Product Placement, Branding and Viral Marketing are thrown around like baseballs but who truly understands the terms or what they mean? The term Interactive Entertainment Marketing (I.E.M) was coined by Mr. Jody Sigmund after 25 years in the marketing and advertising arena. Sigmund has worked with companies the likes of Palms Casino, Inked Magazine, Playboy, Affliction Clothing, Hustler, Michael Jackson and a list of others.

Interactive Entertainment Marketing (I.E.M.) is reaching the consumer on their turf, through facebook, twitter and YouTube and offering a gift with purchase for posting their own video and asking them to explain why they like a certain advertiser's product. The winner is based on how many friends like the video post and / or how many comments they receive. This is just one example. Another example is by placing product on actors in YouTube videos, television or theatrical releases and then tying links through smart phone applications that direct to the advertisers P.O.S.

affiliate marketing

A marketing practice based on the internet in which affiliates are rewarded for marketing on the behalf of other companies, bringing customers/visitors to the business's site.

A company, such as Tatto Media, takes part in affiliate marketing by rewarding it's affiliates for lead generation by way of commissions per lead.
