An abstract concept that is probably useful for understanding some extreme male behaviors yet is often trundled out and weaponized when someone simply disagrees with somebody else.

Suzie : "I think we should name our boy Shandina."

The socially-constructed attitudes that men are expected to be: violent, unemotional, sexually aggressive, etc. It's harmful to men and it harms everyone else as a consequence through these actions.

Especially prominent in: locker rooms, with all the yelling, fighting, proving yourself, who's-dick-is-bigger atmosphere
and in fraternities, with all the making fun or or belting women, emotions, or being a decent human being, and judging men by how many girls they've had sex with, etc.

"God, did you hear about Joe hitting his girl because his friends were making fun of him for being emotional and sensitive when he's with her?"
"Yeah, that's just toxic masculinity. He's grown up taught that he's gotta be a certain way, and that acting otherwise or "acting like a girl" is bad. Murica."

Toxic Masculinity

In contrast to some of the other idiotic definitions. Toxic Masculinity is the societal expectation that males are suppose to represent "manhood" which can cause them to become violent, aggressive, manipulative, unsympathetic, and unemotional. This mentality causes a lot of males to subconsciously see women as sex objects to dominate over instead of having a mutual relationship, which can cause rapes to happen. Toxic Masculinity also forces males to not show any emotions including crying or asking for help. This is why males are almost twice as likely commit suicide than females, all because they were told to "suck it up" or "be a man" throughout their entire life.

Anybody who says that toxic masculinity doesn't exist is only supporting this destructive mindset and is too afraid to speak up about what's really going on. So please SPEAK UP!!!
