A Victorian slang term meaning quarrels or arguments. It was referenced in Queen Victoria's journal 'More Leaves' in 1884.

More Leaves : “At five minutes to eleven rode off with Beatrice, good Sharp going with us, and having occasional collie shangles (a Scottish word for quarrels or rows, but taken from fights between dogs) with collies when we came near cottages.”

Coalsies

A game of hot potato played around the campfire with friends, where a red hot charcoal from the fire is used, instead of a “hot potato”.

Chimp: “Hey Fred, did you guys play any fun games at that bonfire last week?”
Fred: “ Oh boy did we, we played Coalsies, I didn’t toss it to my friend soon enough, now I have blisters!”

When you are out with a slower training partner and have to double back and then catch up. Appears to have originated in Sussex, UK.

Not to be confused with dogging.

My friend was so slow I had to do collie dogging three times on our run.
