Ecclesiokratocaptism

The process or condition in which a church (or other supposedly independent institution) becomes captured by state power-functioning as an arm of the state rather than a sovereign moral/cultural body with self-determination.

Ordered etymology (matching the event sequence): 1. ecclesio- (church / assembly) 2. krato- (state power / rule) 3. capt- (to seize capture) 4. -ism (doctrine, system, condition) So the word "reads" as: church + state-power + capture condition/system.

EXAMPLE 1:

Ecclesiokratocaptism has destroyed the integrity of the Catholic Church in China which is now under state control.

EXAMPLE 2:
The Roman Catholic Church has legalism problems but one of the main benefits of the idea of a Pope is that it makes the Church not only more unified but also less ecclesiokratocaptist.
