How does xy work?

A phrase that questions something really simple and has an obvious answer to it, but can become very confusing if the one asking the question knows how to confuse. It can be used to keep up conversations.
It was found on the questions tab of bill wurtz's website

A phrase used in many different regions of the UK, however it is very common in Liverpool.

The phrase is used to ask on how one person, or a group of people is doing.

It is also often used to ask what a person is referring too. This would be followed by a question mark (?).

Dave: How are we
Steve: I’m great lad

Police: Dave we need to talk to you about a burglary from down the block
Dave: How are we?

Term meaning "how are you doing" but it's used by people in a midlife crisis and Football Manager players. Usually british too. It may be deemed as friendly and slightly quirky.
