A real-life honest-to-God black Nebraska cowboy of the late 19th and early 20th century. Real name was Amos Harris.

The son of freed slaves, he was born in either the 1840s or 1860s and arrived in Nebraska about 1880.

Nigger Amos came to Nebraska in about 1880, settled down and raised some cattle.
