In short, it's a concerted effort made in order to complete/make/achieve something.

I'll be working my buns to the bones this weekend to get this project done on time.

Red Bone

Redbone had various meanings starting back in the 1800s but most implied was a race mixture. The racial mix is usually referred to as Tri-racial or more and may be any combination of the following: Native American, European, Asians, or Portuguese, Spanish, Turk, and African sub-groups. Thus generating lighter skin.

For some examples a Red Bone mix could be asian irish jamican or cuban, hawiian,african. just to name a few there are many more combo s
