Stop Snitchin

An urban policy that has become maddness. It has gone from a policy of not betraying and turning in one's friends to the over the top policy of not talking to the police about anything. Even if the person who commited the crime has done terrible things, and he is not even from your neighborhood. A policy that has led to the ceasing of solving of inner-city crimes.

Person fed up with constant violence: "He murdered three people! He's not even from our hood!"
Person who has grown too used to it: You know the policy, Stop Snitchin."

snitchjacketing

snitchjacketing or badjacketing isn't an east coast term. it refers to someone calling someone an informant or a "snitch" to out them from a group. the FBI and other law enforcement groups use real informants to plant evidence on people that they may be a snitch to then create infighting or a witch-hunt. it also makes it difficult for those reffered to as snitches, who are in-fact snithes, to work within the movement they come from, because people are weary of such a rumor possibly being true.

when not used by cops/ security forces/ etc it's usually employed by someone as a low blow, because they can't come up with anything of any merit to accuse, denounce, or argue with someone about.

Ex.Hey Duke, have you cashed your check from the FBI yet?

An phrase used by urban communities that was intended to keep the police out of neighborhood business. The phrase reminds those seeking the help of police that their tattling will result in a severe beating. Unfortunately, This phrase has become a large reason why urban communities remain riddled with violence and poverty.

A: "I'm going to call the police, my brother. I just saw so-and-so kill David."
B: "You really shouldn't, my Nubian friend. After all, snitches get stitches."
A: "You are correct. I'll adhere to that maxim and let this sort of activity go unreported and unpunished."

Someone who gives up incriminating evidence to people they have no business talking to in the first place. Some snitch because they need attention others snitch because they are scared.
