Taking the Black

A vow made to a tree with a face.
An action to evade punishment.

Discarding all your achievements, and start all over again.

Word came from Night's Watch, an order of formerly criminals, bastards and broken men defending the Wall from all enemies.
Johnny is taking the black to escape his shotgun wedding.

Take a Cruz

Verb, activity: taking leave of a situation that one has no actionable control or authority over in order to avoid the hardship of the situation.

Derivation: taken from the name of Texas' Senator Ted Cruz, who made headlines by taking an impromptu trip to Mexico instead of sticking out the nationwide blizzard of February '21, which affected every state except Hawaii and Florida. Florida maintains that Florida Man held off the storm with an icy glare that cancelled out the warm front that might've otherwise collided with the storm, and hurled it southward.
It is a big warehouse, but there's a whole lot of code violations that I don't feel like taking on. I think I'm gonna take a Cruz on that offer.

Take a Knee

"Take a Knee", the worst diss in sports. This term comes from American Football. Should you screw up during practice or worse, during a game, the coach tells you "take a knee" where which you go to the sideline and kneel down on one knee so that the team and audience can see your total humiliation. I first heard this term in 1984, though I know it has to originate from a date way before my time. My coach of at least 45 yrs. old at the time used this term.

Coach Says: Miss your read...Take a Knee. Miss your block...Take a Knee. Miss your hole...Take a knee.
Ex: God...mit John Doe! Get your blocks or you're taking a knee.
Ex: Je..s Freakin' Chr..t... that ball fell right through your hands, Take a Knee.
