a new year's dish from the Netherlands. they're balls of dough. typically containing raisins that are fried in oil. and served with powdered sugar. they're eaten at new year's eve. and prepared the day before.

families often make a whole lot and eat them for the next weeks. typically during tea time.

i ate some oily balls in Amsterdam, they where delicious.

musket balls

Musket balls are the types of the projectiles that are fired from muskets. Before they were loaded down down the muzzle, they were usually wrapped in paper or cloth, to keep excess gas behind the barrel. Musket balls were made by pouring molten lead into a musket ball mould and trimming off surplus lead once it had cooled.

Back in the 1840’s people used musket balls during war.
