rhetorical textion

A text message asking a question that is not meant to be answered. Frequently addressed to the originator's entire phone book.

These messages can cause confusion by causing dozens of people to think that someone wants to hold an actual conversation with them, when in fact the sender of the message was simply lonely, amused, drunk, or all three.

Alice: Carol just texted me, 'Why the hell can't people in Atlanta use their turn signals?' How the hell should I know? I *do* use my turn signal!

Bob: Relax. It was a rhetorical textion. She sent it to me, too.

one-text wonder

1.a person, while during any time in their day, sends only one text to someone inquiring "what's up" or "what are you up to tonight", after which, the recipient responds only to hear from that person days later when the cycle repeats.

"Timmy is a notorious one-text wonder."

Buying Textbooks

A sadistict torture ritual performed by most colleges and universities upon students. After paying a fortune in money they dont have for tutition, students are required to shell out more for "required reading material" they will never touch because they have the internet. The act of purchasing these books is easily comparible to smacking ones-self in the face with a brick. buying them offline is a know way to ease the pain of buying textbooks, but its still a pain in the a**.

Person 1: "what are you doing"
Person 2: "buying textbooks for school"
Person 1: "use amazon, and heres a brick- it might make things less painful"

dingle-texter

A person who issues a final, meaningless and annoying reply to a text thread between 2 or more people. A "dingle-texter" is the type that always has to have the last text in the thread, regardless of how mundane and redundant is it. This final text forces the "normal texter" to keep having to look at the thread without getting any real enlightenment out if its ending.

Normal Texter (NT): I am making cookies tomorrow. Would you like some?

Dingle-Texter (DT): That would be great. When will they be ready?

NT: About 1PM.

DT: Let me know when ready and I will pick them up.

NT: Will do.

DT: Ok

A text message, which was written and sent while the mobile phone is behind the writer/senders back. Named after the on stage guitar moves of Jimi Hendrix.

Mary: Damn, I need to send a text message to Dave - think I left the iron on.
Kelly: You better send a Hendrix text so Bob can't see you - he's about to start his announcement.

manual textdarity

Defined as ones ability to control his or her fingers on a mobile device keyboard. One who makes multiple typos is said to have poor manual textdarity.

Cal's texts are as hard to understand as when he's on the phone talkin to you. I used to think he was an illiterate, but maybe he has bad manual textdarity, from his arthrytis.
