One of the greatest bands of all time. Their music does have something for just about everyone, from the playful psychedelic stuff of Syd Barrett to the serious, deep stuff of Roger Waters, or the popish sound of Dave Gilmour after Waters left. The only people who think Pink Floyd is a stoner band that only stoners listen to are the close-minded people who know absolutely nothing about the music. "The Wall"(1979) is probably the best concept album of all time with "Tommy" by The Who close behind. "Dark Side of the Moon" (1973) and "Animals"(1977) are about society and the injustices within it. "Wish You Were Here"(1975) is a tribute their founder, Syd Barrett. They broke up 24 years ago but that will all change with their performance at Live 8 on July 2,2005; a day I have waited for all my life!

best band ever-better then all-no equals- no competeters- not only are they getting in the rock & roll hall of fame, but their getting an entire wing dedicated to them Put aside DSOTM and the Wall and pick up a copy of More, Atom Heart Mother, Saucerful of secrets, or Relics, ull be amazed at how original and awesome thier early stuff was. Wish u were here and Animals are also awesome- but no matter wut they are still the best band ever NO ONE WILL EVER COMPARE, EVER

As far as I've talked to people about it, the conclusion is: you are either a Waters or a Gilmour type of person. Of course, you are neither if you don't listen to Pink Floyd.
Waters type is a little crazy, not very opened, strange kind of person, and the Gilmour type is more of an chill, melancholic person...
I thought I was both types, but sooner or later you will see that, no matter how much you love both G & W, your heart made up its mind a looong time ago.
If you don't know what type you are, here's an example..:

Waters' species
-listen: Careful with that axe, Eugene
Gilmour kind
-listen: What do you want from me
and choose. And I know,in your MIND, it seems like both are. But in your heart...

The sweetest boy you’ll ever meet, he treats his significant other with the most respect and he’s always the drippiest in the room. He always knows how to make people laugh and everyone loves him.

Everyone has heard Pink Floyd sometime, for me, it played on the radio sometimes and it was "ok" music, but not my style. It sounded to me like something my parents would love, which probably tainted my view.
Then one time I took some sugar cubes of LSD, and was sitting down listening to the most beautiful, dramatic, life-changing sound I had ever heard in my life...I didn't know if my brain was making it up to accompany my mood, or if someone was singing, or if this was the sound you hear right before you die and go to heaven. It was the most haunting, ethereal noise. My life was then changed, I contemplated every single thing about myself, my life, the person I've become, and the music made me understand all of the questions I've ever had about life. Words cannot describe the beauty of this sound. After about 3 hours of heavy contemplation I asked what sounds everyone was hearing, and I asked if we were in a movie. Some girl looked at me knowingly and said, there's Pink Floyd for you! It is an amazing, original band and all of that, but when in the right state of mind (dropping on acid) it can change your entire life.

Tulip: Do you wanna listen to some Pink Floyd?
Normal Person: Yeah, I love that band! Classic.
Person who has really EXPERIENCED the music: Oh my God, yes. By the way, you're completely awesome and have the most excellent taste in music.

One of the most kick ass bands in history. Unfortunately people often discredit them as nothing more than toker music and refuse to judge them for what they are: a great classic rock band.
nub: What are you listening to?
Seamus: Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here.
nub: Ahh toker music eh? You need to lay off the acid.

A band in the 60's and 70's that changed music forever. Most often you hear of The Wall and Dark Side of the Moon, but there is more to Pink Floyd. Such as Piper at the Gates of Dawn and Relics. Pink Floyd is a band that many get stoned to, put on side one of any of their vinyls, and just stare at walls until they fall asleep come down off their high.
