South Beach Diet

The Atkins diet for dummies.

Dr. Atkins said you should eat nutrient rich carbs instead of nutrient deficient carbs. This appears to be a simple idea, yet apparently figuring out that this means eating spinach instead of potatoes or broccoli instead of corn is akin to rocket science for the unwashed masses. So in comes the South Beach Diet, which is exactly the same except it breaks everything down into "good carbs" and "bad carbs".

Anyone who thinks the South Beach Diet is different than Atkins is an idiot.

North Atlantic Drift

A phenomenon generated by, but not limiting to, the bowling of Thomas Cookson. North Atlantic Drift (or NAD as an abbreviated term) is the action to which a cricket ball 'drifts' towards a batsmen whilst in the air, lulling them into playing the ball to the leg side. However, contrary to physics and cricketing norms, when the ball pitches it turns viciously to the off side, leaving the batsmen dumbfounded, perplexed and more often that not on his/her way back to the pavilion.

series drift

The degree to which an avid viewer of a TV show, cartoon, or internet series notices a slight change in style or content over an extended period of time is called "series drift". Often times, series drift is responsible for the waning of the popularity of such a program. Occasionally, series drift can have a positive affect in attracting a larger audience. In cases when series drift has a strong negative affect, the producers of the program in question may resort to jumping the shark.

The Simpsons series drift was evident once it became clear that Family Guy was indeed funnier.
